If you are around
Cindy, Sam, Carla, and Lisa for any length of time you’ll hear, “COOL”, “That would be COOL”
and “Totally COOL” as well as you will hear some “COOL TONES”. These gals are the
newest quartet in Emerald City Chorus; however they are anything but new to barbershop.
“COOL TONES” quartet recently
auditioned after getting together to sing “Let It Snow” for the chorus Christmas Show in December 2007.
They now are proud to wear their matching jean jackets with the snowflake symbolizing the beginning of something REALLY
COOL!
Our COOL Diva Lead, LISA MURRY is the Assistant Director and lead section specialist for the Emerald City Chorus.
She is also the Education Coordinator for Region 7 which means she plans educational music events for our 4-state Sweet Adeline
region. During the day she is a customer service representative for an income tax software provider but
music is her passion. She shares this passion with her jazz musician husband Ray and her two football star
sons, Ray and Tyler. She enjoys shopping, traveling, and scrap booking.
The COOL smooth Bass of “COOL
TONES” is CINDY DUGGAN. Cindy is a bass section leader and tape qualifier for Emerald City Chorus.
Having been in Sweet Adelines since 1991 when her mother enticed her to join the “Coronado Country Chorus”
in Lyons with her, Cindy would much rather sing than shop. She worked for the Lyons Salt Company for twenty-eight
years, eighteen of them underground as a drill operator. Cindy re-married in 2006 and moved to Andover.
Her husband Wayne volunteers with the chorus as Santa for the Christmas Season and is a Sweet Adeline groupie.
Between them they have four children, Bill, Kara, Joshua and Chris, and six grandchildren. As
she learns to be a housewife and explore her hobbies, she has found her favorite so far is demolition and no home remodeling
project has stopped her yet!
CARLA ELKINS, our Totally COOL Baritone has been in Sweet Adelines since 2001. Her mother
encouraged her to pursue this and watched her compete in her first competition in 2002. Carla was happy
when her sister Renee' decided to join but saddened when her mom passed away later that year. She comes from a musically
inclined family who loves to perform. Carla serves on the music staff of the Emerald City Chorus as a baritone
section leader. She has been employed at the Wichita Clinic, PA for the past thirteen years. Carla has
several hobbies that keep her busy in her spare time. They are singing, traveling, reading, shopping, crafts
and spending time with her family.
Crazy COOL Tenor, SAMANTHA DECKER is the Emerald City Chorus choreographer. Samantha grew up singing
and dancing and even met her husband at a college singing competition. Sam has truly found her niche with
Sweet Adelines and plans to get her 50-year pin one day. A homemaker and mother of 2 small children, Sam
can be found at the YMCA or zoo when she is not performing with Emerald City or Cool Tones.
