Emerald City Chorus hosted our official Charter Party, We're Going Green, on March 8, 2008 at the Woodland United Methodist Church, 1100 W. 15th St., Wichita, KS from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
City of Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer and Wichita City Council proclaimed March 8, 2008 as "EMERALD CITY CHORUS DAY" in the City of Wichita.
Attending the event were families, friends and supporters of the Emerald City Chorus. The charter was presented to Emerald City Team Leader Janice Brown by Janet Davis, Region 7 Management Team Membership Coordinator. Also attending from the region was Sandy Smith, Communications Coordinator.

Three Emerald City Chorus charter members passed away during 2009.

In January 2009, we lost charter member Judy Kittle to a long-lasting illness. She was never able to attend
any of our rehearsal but was always there with us in spirit. She is sorely missed.

Sisters Alice Newton and Ernistine Willis, Emerald City Charter members both succumbed to their illnesses within four days of each other in December 2009. Alice and Ernice were inseperable and called themselves Pete and Repeat. They were tireless supporters attending rehearsals each week when their health permitted. Whenever there were crafty items needed by the chorus, Alice and Ernie always volunteered and completed the tasks in a snap! They will also be sorely missed. |
