Emerald City Chorus

EMERALD CITY CHORUS – A RECAP OF OUR SHOWS OVER THE YEARS - from 2008
November 15, 2008 – A Hare Out of Place—Emerald City’s very first public show was a clever little Christmas presentation at the Historic Augusta Theatre. Seems the Easter Bunny was trying to “steal” Christmas! The entire chorus (elves) was there to help Santa thwart his efforts.
October 12, 2009 – Emerald City Chorus & Friends—Our second show – presented at the Orpheum Theatre featured our very own “talking” Juke Box. He was in charge of giving clues to the audience regarding the
upcoming songs. He encouraged the audience to participate!

October 9, 2010 – “Ghouls” Night Out—Show three, at the Orpheum Theatre featured the chorus portraying female characters, living or dead. They were invited to Glinda the Good Witch’s Girl’s Night Out Party that was sabotaged by Emeralda, the Bad Witch. She heard “Ghoul’s Night Out” and invited all of the ghouls, Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf Man, the Headless Horseman and many more. Provided a very “ghoulish” party for all! Featured the 2005 Sweet Adelines International Quartet Champions, the “BUZZ”.
August 27, 2011 – Emerald City Live—At the Orpheum once again, Emerald City Live featured the chorus and cast of characters presenting our “TV” show Emerald City Live. The weather lady, a travel segment, the church lady and much more. Even Lady Gaga made an appearance. Our special guests for the show was “MAXX Factor” quartet, the 2011 Sweet Adelines International Quartet Champions!
December 8, 2012 – A Celebration of Carols, A Christmas Concert—At the Scottish Rite Center the members donned their finest Victorian costumes to present this Christmas celebration, featuring Christmas Then, Christmas Now and Christmas Forever. A multitude of the season’s favorite music was sung. Our guest performers was ARISE. Our favorite coach Sharon Babb, was our Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening.
September 28, 2013 – Curtain Up…a Broadway Revue! - At the Scottish Rite Center, the chorus presented a plethora of beloved Broadway show tunes. Featured guests for the evening was LoveNotes Quartet, who two months later obtained the 2013 Sweet Adelines International Championship. Also featured was the up and coming men’s barbershop quartet “BOOMTOWN”.
December 6, 2014 – Wrapped Up for the Holidays—At the Scottish Rite Center the chorus presented Christmas Past (in Victorian costuming) and Christmas Present. Special guests for the evening was the Butler Community College Headliners who provided an exciting youthful dancing and singing presentation.
September 25 & 26, 2015 – Tone Appetit—Our very first musical mystery dinner theatre, “Tone Appetit”, was on both Friday and Saturday evenings. The audience was limited to only 80 each evening (for the meals) and to not exceed the room limitations in our rehearsal room (Scott Hall at Southwestern Presbyterian Church). Both shows sold out almost immediately and a good time was had by all. The mystery for the audience was what they would be eating, course by course. By the way, the food was catered by Truffles.
August 25 & 27, 2016 - M is for Mystery and Mayhem—Our second musical mystery dinner theatre, M is for Mystery and Mayhem, was also done twice, once on Friday then again Saturday evening. This was at the Bethany Lutheran Activity Center which provided a little more room for our guests seating, however we once again sold out the tickets very quickly. Our cast of characters mingled with the attendees before the show, dropping little hints and clues about each other. Terrific food was catered once again by Truffles.
